Goom Landscapes Limited is committed to ensuring that it provides a safe and healthy environment for all personnel, contractors and visitors to their various work sites.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF EMPLOYER:


TO PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN A SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • A safe workplace – building, vehicles, structure etc
  • All plant in the workplace
  • Physical environment – lighting, ventilation, heat, noise etc
  • Access to and from the workplace
  • Work process – expectations of what is done and how
  • Work arrangement – effects of shift work and overtime arrangements
  • Psychological environment – overcrowding, deadlines, stress factors

TO PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN FACILITIES FOR SAFETY AND HEALTH OF EMPLOYEES

  • First aid facilities
  • Mealrooms
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Emergency equipment

RESPONSIBILITIES OF EMPLOYEE:


TAKE ALL POSSIBLE STEPS TO ENSURE SAFE WORK PRACTICES INCLUDING

  • Your own safety at work
  • That no action by you, while at work causes harm to any other person

THIS INCLUDES:

  • Participating in health and safety training
  • Only operate equipment which you have been trained/instructed to operate
  • Keep work area/equipment clean and tidy
  • Using and looking after protective clothing/equipment/emergency equipment
  • Following employers instructions regarding workplace hazards
  • Co-operating with identification of workplace hazards and employee health
  • Report accidents, injuries or near accidents promptly and accurately
  • Participate in return to work programmes
  • Encourage others to do the same

RESPONSIBILITIES OF MANAGEMENT:


TO ENSURE THAT OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH RELATED MATTERS ARE PROMOTED TO ALL STAFF

  • Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and standards
  • Identify and assess all hazards in the workplace
  • Ensure all new staff, contractors and visitors are inducted with the relevant Health and Safety procedures
  • Provide health and safety ongoing training and supervision
  • Report, record and investigate all accidents/incidents accurately and promptly
  • Support the safe and early return to work of injured employees
  • Encourage employee consultation and participation in all matters relating to health and safety
  • Promote a system of continuous improvement
  • Consult with staff and their representatives on all health and safety matters
  • Ensure all health and safety documents are kept up-to-date
