CHRISTCHURCH AUCKLAND WANAKA
Gillman Wheelans Ltd contracted Goom Landscapes to design the landscaping for the Delamain residential subdivision in Yaldhurst. It is the tenth subdivision the two companies have worked on together, clear evidence of the strong synergy between them.
Delamain is a substantial residential development comprising a mix of 400 large and small sections.
The landscaping completed by Goom Landscapes beautifully integrates entrance, reserve and play areas, waterways and streetscapes.
The area was semi-rural and featured water races originally built to convey water to stock. Goom Landscapes diverted one of these to create a stream and pond feature with riparian plantings of tussocks and rushes. It's an outstanding point of difference among Christchurch's newer residential subdivisions.
Goom Landscapes were also responsible for the design and construction of the well-patronised children's playground.
The entrance to Delamain is identified by a group of triangular shaped buttresses echoing the outline of the Southern Alps. The main buttress bearing the Delamain name is supported by a stone-faced pillar and set into a reflection pond.
Success of the design of public spaces has led to the company being commissioned to work on a number of private residences at Delamain.
