Residents in Christchurch City and Lyttelton Harbour face Level 3 water restrictions, currently in force until further notice.

Water restrictions are now in force in Christchurch and LytteltonDue to the earthquakes over the last 12 months, the infrastructure required to pump water around the city has been severely damaged. The restrictions are necessary to ensure the Council can supply residents with the indoor drinking water they need as summer approaches. The restrictions are also to ensure there is enough water supply for fire fighting requirements.

If everyone makes an effort to reduce their water consumption now, Christchurch will be better positioned to avoid total outdoor watering bans this summer.

As a responsible company, Goom Landscapes is working to comply with the water restrictions applied while ensuring minimal disruption to our clients landscaping requirements.

We recommend our clients discuss any issues directly with us in regards to watering applications and irrigation programmes, to lessen the impact on their landscaping over the coming months.

In the meantime we will endeavour to keep you up to date with developments, here on this website.

Level 3 water restrictions mean:

  • No outdoor water use on Mondays
  • Odd-numbered street addresses can water their gardens on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays
  • Even-numbered street addresses can water their gardens on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
  • Sprinklers, garden irrigation systems and unattended hoses are not permitted at any time
  • Car washing is permitted on the allocated day

Please note, these restrictions do not apply to residents with private water supplies, for example private wells, nor do they apply to industries where water is required for production.
